Envisioning the Future Community Meeting

You are invited to “Envisioning the future”
Come and Join us! 

Self-advocates, family members, service providers and supporters are invited to share ideas and a collective vision about the future of supports and
 services for Albertans with developmental disabilities.

 Detailed Agenda for “Envisioning the Future, Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 9:30 – 2:30 pm

9:30 to 10 am - Coffee and getting ready
10 am to 2:30 pm - Welcome
Welcome, introduction and brief explanation of why we are coming together (active involvement of all components of the community in planning for future services)

10:05 – 11 am - Brainstorming
Brainstorming to create a vision for services/supports/future
  • Small groups discussing “What values are most important to us in our services, our supports and our community?” (20 min)
  • Put ideas into themes in small groups (10 min)
  • Move themes on to large wall chart and reorganize to general areas (15-20 min)
  • 10 minutes for running over or a short break

11-12 Vision
Brainstorming to create a vision of how we want to work together to create/plan for services
  • Small groups discussing “How do we want to work together to create/plan for our services, our supports and our community?” (20 min)
  • Put ideas into themes in small groups (10 min)
  • Move themes on to large wall chart and reorganize to general areas (15-20 min)
  • 10 minutes for running over or a short break

Noon to 12:20 pm lunch/break
  • Facilitators organize themes for report back after lunch on morning work
  • Facilitators summarize areas to work on after lunch

12:30 to 1:10 pm
  • Report back on themes to ready people for the next session
  • Report on summary of areas to work on based on morning discussion
  • Brainstorming any additional areas we will need to work on to move toward the vision created in the morning session
  • Move themes on to large wall chart and reorganize to general working groups

1:10 to 2:10 Work Plan
Creating a work plan for the working groups
  • Small working groups discussing “What do we need to do over the next year to address the concerns of this work group?” (20 min)
  • Put ideas into a work plan in the small groups (10 min)
  • Move work plans onto the wall and give everyone a chance to look at and comment on the work plans (10 min)
  • Ask groups to add key elements of plans info to big timeline on the wall (“Gantt chart for realizing the vision”
2:10 to 2:30 Wrap Up
(Room booked until 3 pm or later for those who can stay on)
Wrap up: what have we accomplished and how we will move forward?

Your invited to the Calgary SCOPE Society Stampede BBQ

Calgary SCOPE Society Open House/30th Anniversary for new office located at (219—18 St SE) Thursday, July 11th, from 11:30 to 1:30 pm. 

We are sharing space with our new partner, Vantage Enterprises. 
There will be food, fun and entertainment for everyone. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs and cake! Live music will be provided by: The Barley Juice Boys.



The new office is located near bus routes 33 (1 block away) and small shuttle bus route 27 stops ½ block away from the office if people chose to take the Barlow/Max Bell LRT. It is also about a 800 m walk from the LRT if you choose not to take the connector bus. 

Our office will still be in its construction phase, and people are invited to tour the new building. Please wear safe footwear if you can. Click here for the Map!
