Dear Friends of the Disability Action Hall,
After 28 years of advocacy, community, and disability pride, we are writing to share that the Disability Action Hall will no longer be operating as of February 27, 2026. This difficult decision has been made because we are no longer able to secure the funding required to continue the Hall’s operations.
The Disability Action Hall has an extraordinary history. From the first Calgary Disability Pride parades, to rallies at the McDougall Centre and the Legislative Building to protect and expand funding for services, increase AISH, create the Calgary low income bus pass, and push for appropriate safety standards; from hundreds of shared meals, art projects, and provincial conferences, to lifelong friendships, the Right to Love campaign, and countless acts of everyday advocacy and courage — the Hall has helped shape disability rights and pride in Alberta in ways that cannot be measured.
Does this mean the end of the Hall? No.
The Disability Action Hall lives on in the impact it has had on Alberta, in the systems it helped change, and in all of us who were part of it. The future is yet unwritten.
