Support Self-Advocacy to empower change for Albertans with Disabilities
For 28 years, the Disability Action Hall has been a vital force for change, fuelled by lived experience. But with 27% of Albertans living with a disability, the fight for equitable access is far from over. While the Disability Action has ended, we are still accepting donations to the Scope Society of Alberta earmarked towards self-advocacy to help fuel future efforts.
People asked, "How can we help?" Here are some ideas we have...
Nothing About Us Without Us
Here are four ways to help us for the future of self-advocacy...
1. Grant Writing Guidance
We want to grow our work, but we need help navigating grants and funding:
- Mentor us or share your expertise
- Help us access resources to strengthen self‑advocacy
We need your guidance to secure funding that allows self‑advocates to lead.
2. Help us raise awareness for lived expertise, Book Us for a Presentation or Consult (Fee for service)
Invite us to your organization, school, or event:
- Share lived experience stories
- Raise awareness about inclusion
- Discuss ways to centre self‑advocates in decisions
3. Support & Fundraise
Every donation helps us:
- Run workshops and events
- Grow self‑advocacy skills across Alberta
- Create more spaces where people with lived experience lead
